  • Go Fest Re-Cap
    • A huge thank you to Takumi for organizing the event. It would not have been possible without him. He staffed the booth the entire weekend as well.
    • Thank you to ALL last minute volunteers.
    • Rudy coordinated the new banner and rigged it to our tent. A huge thank you to Rudy.
    • There were (5) 1 gallon extract batches brewed during the event weekend. This beer will be served at the upcoming LTHB event.
  • SCBG-Chaos Mtn Brewing Group Brew
    • $10 per 5 gallon batch. We have a total of 7 BBL (225 gallons) of wort available. We likely will reduce the hop schedule down to around 5-10 IBU. The previous year recipe was 30 IBU. The survey on hop bitterness thus far is 65% in favor of lower bitterness.
    • Mash-In will start around 8 am. Tasting Room opens at 1 pm. Rick’s Wrap It Up food truck will be there. Wort will be filled around 3 pm.
    • Iron Brewer Challenge is a side project created by Takumi. The concept is that each participant will come up with a unique ingredient and will write it down on a slip of paper to be drawn by another brewers. Details still being worked out with Takumi.
  • Olde Salem Brewing pH Tech Talk
    • Thank you to Kevin Campbell for hosting and teaching the tech talk.
    • Everyone had the chance to test their meters against the lab grade meter at the brewery. It was a very in depth talk about mash pH and correction.

  • LTHB Event
    • Nov 3 at both Blue Ridge Hydroponics and Southern Hills Homebrew Supply.
    • It is the 20th anniversary of LTHB Day.
    • Need volunteers for both locations for pouring beer, checking IDs, brew demos, chatting with attendees. Please donate kegged or bottled beer.
    • Signup sheet is available and will be emailed out again soon.
  • FB Boost
    • Carrie asked about boosting our post on facebook for larger reach. Harry and CG both supported the motion.
  • Kit Donation
    • Harry has donated a beer kit raffle for volunteers at BRH.
    • Chris G. has decided to match that donation with a kit from Southern Hills.
  • Elections
    • Begin thinking about your nominations for President/VP as well as Board Positions. Allen will not be running for president a second term.
    • There will be 1 or 2 Board Positions open depending on if Harry Montoro wants to stay.
  • Open Floor
    • Brian R. spoke about how he has been talking with Chad Clark (the organizer for Highland Games both in Salem and Radford).
    • Chad seems very interested in us being at both events. The events are a couple months apart. We would likely want to coordinate with the Blacksburg Homebrew Club on that one.
    • Brian will continue working on this and keep us informed on details.
  • Barrel Project
    • Takumi’s George Dickel barrel is still available for use as a project. CG and Bryan Summerson are working out the details to host the brew day at BLBC.
    • Bryan has offered to brew and ferment there. Details to come shortly.
  • Valhalla Vineyards Wine Barrels
    • Valhalla Vineyards has offered used wine barrels for $70 per barrel (CG). We are going to reach back out to Valhalla to work this out.
  • Mike C Update
    • His Brew-Do Best of Show winning Raspberry Brett Beer will be released at Star Hill Roanoke Tasting Room On Thursday, November 15th.
    • Carrie suggested a “Pack The Pub” event so we show our full support. Everyone was in favor of this.
