January 2023 Meeting Notes

- Thank you to our host, Harry Montoro.
- Budget review, a separate email was sent out with budget information.
- Proposed 2023 budget was voted on and approved as presented.
- We are looking for host for our future meetings, February in particular, but volunteers for any month are
welcome.- May and November meetings are planned to take place at Southern Hills.
- Harry plans to host the March and September competition meetings.
- Brewer of the year plaque presentation
- Honoring Mike Usberghi BOTY 2021 and Steve Lusk BOTY 2022.
- The plaque was relinquished to Steve’s custody as the reigning BOTY.
- Upcoming events
- Style presentation for first quarter comp, 18B American Pale Ale.
- Presentation to take place at the January meeting.
- Volunteers are needed to present the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter styles.
- Big Brew Day May 6th at Southern Hills
- Microfestivus
- We are working with the Square Society on planning this year’s event, anyone willing to assist in planning the event is encouraged to reach out to a member of the board so we can orchestrate with the Square Society. This is to help plan, handle logistics, vendors, etc.
- Style presentation for first quarter comp, 18B American Pale Ale.
- Discussion on informal brewing competitions, such as drawing a random ingredient, grain, yeast etc. That must be used brewing the best beer, for the fun of it.
- Ideas for growing the Guild
- Develop and print new guild fliers.
- Emphasize that we are not exclusively for home beer brewers, we welcome all lovers of the brew, wine makers, craft enthusiast, people interested in learning more about beer and judging.
- Possibly assigning a volunteer guild member to liaison/mentor new or prospective members.
- Membership dues are due for all members not yet paid for 2023
- 50/50 drawing
- $74 was collected in total, $37 split.
- Dennis Stevens won the drawing.
